Life Changing Words Ministry
Missionary Journal
January 6, 2006
January 1st was my day at United Baptist Mission Church. The theme chosen by them was: …walk as children of light… from Ephesians 5:8. I ate a token meal with them because I knew that I was being taken to where Bill would be brought to eat. Later we got back to Kilang’s for a short nap. I was out like a light bulb. Amenla called me at four pm. I got up and dressed finishing just as Dr. Longkumer arrived to take us for the service at Teens Up Faith Church.
The Holy Spirit spoke differently to the needs of the hearts at each place with the same scripture. That is what I love about Him. He gives me plenty of scripture materials for my own learning, but He chooses only what the heart needs of each audience. I get blessed the most because I get all of it and they get some of it. Time is so restricting!
We ate from a full Longkumer’s table before being dropped home by our teenage driver, Temjen. After today, we didn’t want to eat anything more and fasting sounds good.
Dimapur is not a very good place to count on effective, speedy internet service. It is like molasses in January. But we endure with patience. While we were out, we had to make our train ticket reservation to West Bengal. It would take several days before it would be secured.
Bill bought raw peanuts to roast while I made chicken soup with leftovers. In the evening we sat around the fireplace cleaning the roasted peanuts to make homemade peanut butter. Most of it was done by candlelight. They have brownouts regularly for at least an hour or more. Along is pretty faithful helper because he knows the rewards of making the peanut butter. We can do two kilo (four pounds) peanut butter and it is gone in a week. It is very cheap to make and extremely expensive to purchase. The kids love it and Amenla makes it for them to eat during school time. They have noticed a difference in the boys learning as a result of eating this protein.
As we were gathered working on the peanuts, “Chief” (Kilang) suggested that I write a letter requesting an extension to the 19th of January from the Home Ministry Dept in Kohima. The Commandant wrote a letter to the SP Dept to someone he knew. So both letters we had delivered to a lady who works in the Home Office. She is to notify us with the resultant answer. We still are praying that this permit thing will go away.
I shared on leadership at the staff meeting for Teens Up Faith church. I had purchased for each of the leaders on behalf of LCWM the Foundation for Righteous Living books by Derek Prince. This is a tool for their learning and they in turn can teach it to the children and classes to give a strong basic foundation for faith and growth to maturity.
Commandant Sangtam left today for six-week special training in Italy. He was excited because it is his first time out of the country. I can hardly wait to talk to him about it the next time we come.
January 4th, we received word of our extension being accepted. Thank you, Jesus.
Kilang’s father, Opang, came to put the beds together for his daughter, also named,
Amen. She is planning to open a ladies hostel in the apartment next to Kilang. She will come next week. Bill helped Opang before he left to go back to Changtangya. Kilang was gone to Mokokchung for a revival meeting.
Thursday at the Youth meeting at Teens Up, I introduced Acts of Obedience. They broke up into four groups of three. Pastor Anungba, from Bethel Church, the Hindi speaking service held downstairs of Teens Up, was on one team. They had never heard nor done anything like this. When they received a word from the Lord, they would go outside and wait for their team members. As they gathered outside, I asked what the Lord gave each one, encouraged them, and sent them out the gate. They all left with serious faces. I waited in the church as it would not be appropriate for me to be on the street doing this work. After forty-five minutes the first team returned with smiles on their faces. Each team returned smiling. Then they shared the experiences the Lord gave each team.
Moyan’s team received: direction, Jer 16:19 verse, and old age. Result: Went to a specific and prayed for an old man who is an alcoholic with pain in his leg. They shared the verse and prayed for him. He thanked them and invited them back again.
Toshili’s team received: white shoes, black, and man on a bike. Result: Met two Muslim brothers; they said they had heard of Jesus, so the team shared John 14:6, talked about what would happen after death and about Jesus coming again. The Muslims thanked the team for sharing these things with them and said that they didn’t know about these things.
Zambini’s team received: red, green, Joel 2:25-28. Result: Met a man whose father died in the Naga army. They prayed for him before returning to church.
Pastor Anungba’s team received: Metro hospital, spoon, yellow. When they got to the hospital, the pastor heard the Holy Spirit say, #6. Another team member got the verse, 1 John 1:7-10. In room number six was a father wearing a yellow T-shirt. His daughter was sick in the hospital and the father was relieved to see them stating he needed prayer desperately. The spoon was on the table next to the girl’s medicine. They prayed for her complete healing.
Pastor Anungba said afterwards, as we walked toward his house, that this was certainly a new perspective of Holy Spirit activity that made even him excited. Praise the Lord! When the pastor gets excited about listening to God, you can be sure he will share it with his flock. I can’t wait to see what his flock will look like next year!
Mrs. Yaden and I went to Pastor’s house and prayed for his sick wife before going for the evening meal. She thanked us for coming and said she felt better after our praying.
O Lord, if this kind of revelation can be poured out fully on the body of Christ…experiencing the joy of the encounter…how soon would this country come to know her Lord Jesus? Bless Darin Lindley for obediently sharing Your revelation of this kind of experience to us in Oregon. It has changed my life, and I am seeing it change young peoples (and older peoples) lives with great enthusiasm here in Nagaland.
Holy Spirit, come and refresh us for this New Year. Strengthen us to give what You have freely poured into our lives. Join the members of the body of Christ into a unity of love for the lost souls’ sake. Give us sheaves to lay down before You. Give us a great harvest for the Father’s glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
