Life Changing Words Ministry

President's Journal

7 Dec 2006 — Pune — 8:00 a.m.

I had an interesting conversation with Georgene yesterday morning over breakfast. We talked about the changes that were going to go on in the children’s English training in Wadli Pada, especially the expansion to other locations for the phonograms and Christian teaching. We also talked about the budget proposal which I was instructed to take with me back to the States for the next meeting. It was at this time that I also had George write down some of the spellings for these names so I would get the correct spelling for my journal.

Georgene had to leave to do another ladies’ Bible study, so I got to spend some time with the hosts’ children and had an interesting conversation with young master Sheron who’s roughly 7 years old, and English is not his native language. Even more interesting was when he translated a conversation between me and his mother, who spoke even less English than he did. It was one of the strangest conversations I’ve ever had; it felt like a kids’ game of telephone, so I’m not sure how well the message got relayed through the generations and translation. :-)

When Pranay got home from work we left to find the store and found the souvenir shopping that I was hoping for. On the way back, we stopped at what they called Burger King but it was not actually affiliated with the U.S. fast food joint. Unlike the Indian McDonald’s, however, they actually had beef (well, water buffalo) burgers—almost a western flavor, which was welcome to my tongue.
