Yesterday morning I went out with Paul and Bill for a walk and we stopped at some of the street-side shops where they got some batteries and I got some new cough drops. I tried to find some pseudoephedrine but the pharmacist there didn’t have any. I took a nap after lunch, and actually slept, which means the walking made me more tired than I thought. I was ready by 4:00 to leave for Paul’s auntie’s house. I was never sure whether she was literal or figurative but she was a mother figure in his early childhood. There we had interesting conversation and a small Bible study and a homemade meal.
8:00 p.m.
Not much happened today. Breakfast was a very spicy flavored rice, which wasn’t my normal breakfast fare, but it was interesting. This afternoon I got to watch the ladies, including Georgene, prepare the meal for the women’s group tonight which was quite the experience. I got to watch them do all the fresh vegetable preparation while sitting outside on their blankets and the social interaction that goes on while they’re doing this. When the ladies’ meeting started this evening, Pranay and I tried to hide in the meeting hall but instead got roped into helping with the kids’ meeting that was going on at the same time. Luckily, I didn’t speak the language, so I didn’t have to do much but Pranay got to lead the whole Sunday school meeting and I just watched from the background.
After the Sunday school wound down, I went back up to my room and started on this journal entry. There was some distraction outside because there was a local sporting event with lots of announcers on loud speakers. Just as I was finishing up, I got called upstairs to roof for the tail-end of the women’s meeting which included the meal that the had prepared and I was supposed to be one of the guests of honor for. Lots and lots of really good food.
