News from India - 10/16/2004

Bill & Georgene Hawkins Leave for India

Bill and Georgene Hawkins have left for India for six months! They are planning to do teaching, preaching, and evangelistic work while there.

We have received an e-mail from them telling of the lessons learned while traveling. I will not elaborate them for you here. It is enough for you to know that they have arrived in India safely and are working hard.

Pray for strength and health. The agenda they are on is very tiring and the demands on them are great!

A Word from the President

Hello, my name is Peter C. Jones. This spring, Bill & Georgene asked me if I would be willing to join the board and serve as President. I know how important this ministry is to them, and I am honored that they would entrust with me the overseeing of the board. So, taking a big step of faith, knowing that only by God’s grace will I succeed, I accepted their invitation.

Although Bill and Georgene have known me for years, I’m a newcomer to most of you, so let me introduce myself. I was brought up in a Christian family, and have been a part of my home church since birth. From kindergarten through high school, I was given a Christ - centered education. Jesus and His Word are quite literally at the foundation and core of who I am.

God used my college experience as a time of spiritual growth, teaching me leadership by making me a Bible study leader and later the small group coordinator on the executive board of a Christian fellowship on campus.

About four years ago, God put me in the same Sunday School class as Bill & Georgene. As I got to know them better, I saw their heart for India. Last year, God started drawing me to an increased participation in His work. When I was asked to join LCWM, I knew it was exactly what God was preparing me for.

As we move forward as a ministry, I am excited to see God grow our opportunities and our ability to serve in India. through God, your prayers and support make this ministry possible.
